What the workshop builds
Lit Celebration Shop Inc. works from a bench at 309 Gilmour Ave, Toronto - M6P 0B7, Canada (CA), and builds six core pieces for celebrations across the city. Each piece is measured to the room, built in our workshop where possible, finished on site, and packed away by the same crew that installed it.
Balloon Arch Builds
A balloon arch is a building job before it is a decoration. We start with a measured span, whether that is a doorway, a stage edge or a long run behind a dessert table, and choose a frame that can carry the cluster weight without leaning. Latex and foil are grouped by colour family, with the largest balloons placed low and at the shoulders of the arch where the eye expects weight, and smaller balloons filling the crown. Each cluster is tied to the frame with a double knot, so nothing drifts when the room warms up during the evening.
Colour runs are planned in advance. We can build a two-tone arch for a clean look, a four-colour spread for a fuller celebration, or a striped arch that alternates coral and cream around the curve. Bases are wrapped in fabric or tucked behind a table skirt so the frame never shows. On site we inflate to size, walk the clearance with the venue contact, and photograph the finished arch from both entry directions. Arches are built to hold for a full evening and can be reused for a second day when the venue allows an overnight hold.
Streamer Table Styling
The streamer table is dressed in layers so it reads well from standing height and still feels generous when guests sit down. We hang ribbon curtains from a slim rail behind the table, cut in varying lengths so the ends form a soft slope rather than a hard line. Across the table itself we fold napkins into standing stacks, set a colour run that follows the edge, and place small weights under the cloth so a breeze from an open door cannot lift the dressing.
Every table is styled to the food and drink that will sit on it. Dessert tables get a lower ribbon curtain so the trays stay visible. Drink tables get a taller rail and a wipe-clean runner beneath the ribbons. Gift and favour tables get shallow trays for the smaller pieces. We bring the runner, the rail, the ribbon and the weights, and we adjust the whole run once the caterer has placed the platters, because a table that is styled before the food arrives is never the table the guests actually see.
Banner Wall Hire
A banner wall gives a room a face. We hire out letter bunting runs, printed backdrop panels and a clip rail that hangs flat against brick, plaster or glass. The rail carries the weight, the letters hang from clips that can be repositioned in minutes, and the whole run is levelled against a laser line before the first guest arrives. For venues that will not allow fixings, we use a free-standing frame with a weighted base and a fabric cover, so the wall stands on its own feet.
Letter runs are set in the colours and typefaces that suit the celebration, from bold block letters to a softer cut. We can spell a name, a date or a short line, and we keep spare letters in the van in case a name is confirmed late. Backdrop panels are printed on a matte stock so flash photography does not bounce, and they are stored in a rigid tube between events. Hire includes delivery, install, a check under event lighting and collection at the end of the night.
Gift Wrap Counters
The gift wrap counter is a working station, not a prop. We set up a sturdy counter with paper rolls on a rail above, ribbon spools in a tray at the side, and a shallow well for scissors, tape and tags. Guests bring a gift, choose a paper and a ribbon, and leave with a finished parcel wrapped while they wait. A queue line is marked with a soft rope so the counter never becomes a crush point, and a second small table holds finished parcels ready to be collected.
We staff the counter with one or two wrappers depending on guest numbers, and we keep the paper stock replenished from the van so the rail never runs empty. Wrapping is done in a simple fold that looks sharp from every side and uses less tape than a fully sealed parcel, which keeps the station moving. The counter is a popular add-on for celebrations with a gift table, and it works especially well when paired with a balloon arch at the entrance so guests see the station as they arrive.
Kids Party Packages
For smaller rooms and younger guests we assemble a complete package: an arch at the entrance, a styled table, a banner wall behind the main activity, a low gift wrap counter and a pack-down crew booked in the same visit. The pieces are chosen for short attention spans and quick cleanup, with heavier materials kept out of reach and every weight checked against a child leaning on it. Colours are bright but controlled, so the room feels busy without feeling loud.
Packages are built to a fixed set of layouts so we can quote clearly and build quickly. A typical package fits a community hall, a school room or a restaurant back room, and includes a short pre-event call to confirm the room, the guest count and the arrival window. We arrive early enough to finish before the first family, and the crew returns to pack down once the room has emptied. Parents get the parts they want without having to source six separate suppliers.
Venue Pack-Down Crews
The pack-down crew is the quiet half of the job. After the event we return to deflate the arch, coil the streamers onto spools, strip the banner wall, fold the table cloths and sweep the floor. Ribbon is untied rather than cut wherever possible, so it can be reused on the next build, and balloons are collected into bags for disposal according to the venue rules. We photograph the room before we start and after we finish, and we send both images to the venue contact so the condition is clear.
Pack-down can be booked on its own or as part of every other service. Crews arrive with their own trolley, bags and cleaning cloths, and they work to a checklist agreed at install. If the venue has a strict overnight rule, we schedule the crew for the same evening so the room is clear before the door is locked. For multi-day events we offer a nightly tidy option that keeps the build intact while clearing the floor around it.
How a build runs
- Site walk. We visit the room, measure the spans, check the door swing and note where the light and the guests will gather.
- Written plan. You receive a plan with measurements, colour choices, build order and a fixed price before anything is ordered.
- Bench build. Frames, letters and ribbon runs are prepared in the workshop so the on-site time stays short.
- Install. The crew arrives in the booked window, builds the arch, table and wall in order, then checks the whole scene under the room lighting.
- Event. We stay reachable during the event in case a fixing needs attention or a parcel needs a ribbon.
- Pack-down. The crew returns, restores the room and sends before and after photographs to the venue contact.
